We adopted our first beagle in January 2005 and our second in January 2008 and have since become familiar with the breed. Sadly, hundreds of beagles are dumped in our state of Virginia (and elsewhere) especially after hunting season. We decided to do our part to eliminate animal homelessness and help find homes for beagles in need. We fostered our first beagle in 2009 and we're fostering #4 now. In our spare time, we manage DC Beagles - a social group for beagle owners and their beagles.
If you wish to adopt a beagle, please contact your local animal leagues, beagle rescue (look at this great map!) or check out Petfinder.com. There are lots of beagles in need of homes, even puppies! Please be leery of breeders advertising beagles for sale on the internet (Facebook, Craigslist, etc.) or in pet stores. These beagles do not come from reputable breeders and you end up supporting backyard breeders or a puppy mill. Reputable breeders do not advertise!
